10 Things We Love About Epcot
A lot has changed in Epcot since our last podcast about the “ten things we love” about the park (waaay back in episode 17) so we thought it would be fun to revisit our favorite experimental prototype city/community of tomorrow to give you the best of what we think makes it a great place to eat, see and do.
The park centerpiece – Spaceship Earth
This infamous Geodesic dome can be seen at the entrance and is one of the most timeless centerpieces. And now with “Beacons of Magic” which is said to symbolize beacons of possibility and optimism, a light that shines through its reflective panels at night- makes Spaceship Earth even more beautiful to see.
The attraction inside brings you through time and explores mankind’s technological advances over the centuries in a way that makes it fun to learn. The ride along with the interactive post-show- Project Tomorrow Inventing the Wonders of the Future, always makes Spaceship Earth on our list as one of our favorite overall experiences.
The Land Pavilion
House to one of my favorite attractions, Living with the land, the family fav- Soarin around the world, Garden Grill, and “Awesome planet” which uses in-theater effects (wind, scents, and water) to tell the story of life on our planet and why it’s important to care for it.
The various Festivals throughout the year
Here is where Epcot redeems itself not only during times of refurbishments but also when the park lost a bit of its original identity. We hope they always remain part of the Epcot experience (well maybe the “food and wine festival “ can go LOL! jk) because the festivals provide great energy throughout the park.
The Food
Epcot is our all-time favorite park to eat. With so many countries to choose from, it can be a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the best way we know how- through food!
Our Favorites include:
Katsura Grill
This is where we get delicious sushi, udon noodles, and miso soup. The atmosphere and where it is located in Japan is both beautiful and peaceful which makes it a great place to get away from the crowds.
Via Napoli
Their Authentic Neapolitan Pizza with dough is made from water that is sourced from a spring similar to Italy’s Campania region.
Spice Road Table
Located right next to World Showcase Lagoon is a lounge-type restaurant with décor inspired by outdoor cafés from the Moroccan seaside. They have “Mediterranean small plates” such as Fried Calamari, Grilled Lamb Kefta with Tzatziki, Tiropitakia (Cheese-filled Phyllo, Cucumber-Tomato Relish) Naan Spreads (Hummus, Chermoula, Marinated Olives, Za’atar
La Cantina De San Angel
The quick-service restaurant in Mexico (not to be confused with La Hacienda which is the sit-down dining). La Cantina is a great place to grab a quick fresh taco – my favorite is the “Tacos barbacoa” homemade Corn Tortillas topped with Red Salsa and Cilantro comes with Rice and Black Beans with Queso Fresco or their yummy empanadas or nachos.
The Seas With Nemo and Friends and exploring the aquarium
One of my favorite queues in Epcot its an underwater adventure from the start before boarding the clamshell. The ride is an overall joyful experience and I dare you to try to not hum the music after the ride.
At the end of the ride, visit the massive 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium is a place where our kids have learned to love marine biology
The Friend Ship Boats
Not only are these boats a welcoming break to get off our feet, but the journey across the lake is also beautiful and a relaxing way to get across the World Showcase without walking.
Evening strolls through the country’s at night
The World Showcase at night transforms into magical lands. Morocco for example, when the sun sets becomes mysterious with its winding streets and architecture and makes for a completely different experience versus the daytime.
