13 things we love about The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World.
The Haunted Mansion is a family favorite attraction that wonderfully blends all things spooky and silly. Set upon a hillside next to the Rivers of America, the unique estate draws us inside no matter how many times we visit the Magic Kingdom. Those grim grinning ghosts are just so welcoming!
With Halloween nearing, Disney Parks released a video named Happy Hints are hidden at the Haunted Mansion. This inspired us to share our favorite things that we love about this magical mansion.
Listen in as we discuss our top picks as well as what we think are the most underrated moments inside the mansion.
Thirteen things:
- The architecture of the gothic mansion from a distance. The colors of the house, the greens, purples and the proximity to the rivers of America make a magically, mysterious scene. Especially the beautiful solarium.
- The maids/ attraction hostesses. Their uniforms, puns, and deadly personalities make us wish we could join their team.
- The entrance, landscape, and cemetery.
- The way characters of the mansion are incorporated throughout the queue. Look closely and you will find the footprints of the caretaker. As well as dog prints. On the composer’s crypt, there’s a Raven on top to match the character inside the mansion.
- The sea Captain, Culpepper Clynes crypt is out in the graveyard but there’s a painting when we were alive that is inside.
- The musical elements. The sounds and songs of the Mansion.
- Constance & her wicked smirk.
- The history and story of how the attraction was made
- The differences between Disneyland and Disney World
- As you enter the doom buggy the Ghost host says “don’t pull down the safety bar I will lower it for you”
- The grand ballroom scene. The waltzing dead make us want to change and join the party
- Peppers Ghost
- All the “easter eggs” dedicated to the people who worked on the attractions (The tombstones out in the graveyard)…Ravensccroff on the organ. Thurl Ravensccroff was a voice actor in many Disney films and is the singer of Grim Grinning Ghosts.
- How Imagineers incorporated the spooky number thirteen throughout the mansion. 13 books on the shelf…13 quill pens. 13 pipes on the on the organ The clock inside the corridor.
