15+ Ultimate Disney World Tips
While we normally do not think of ourselves as tips and tricks podcasters, we definitely have gathered some Disney travel hacks over the years that we think could be useful to others.
In this episode, we share what we think are the absolute best Walt Disney World tips so that you can get the most out of your next vacation.
Here are a few that we mentioned on the show:
Learn some Disney history before your trip
This one is not mentioned enough… learning about Walt, his brother Roy and all the other Disney legends and Imagineers will not only give you a better appreciation for the parks but also more of a connection. For example when you are on Main Street U.S.A and you notice the windows you will be able to understand why the names have a special significance.
There are so many ways to do this now between reading books, Watching Imagineering Story or behind the attraction on Disney+ or you can even do it super fast by watching a youtube video of the attraction in Hollywood Studios- Walt Disney Presents One Man’s Dream.
Here are some of our favorite books
Keep your home schedule/routine in mind when planning your vacation and try to stick to that while in Disney World..
This one I feel is most important when traveling with young kids or even teenagers. This particular tips helps avoid so many arguments.
We also receive a ton of messages of what traveling was like when our kids were little and this one always is the one I refer back to. I see so many exhausted kids, parents at the parks and I know it is usually because they are pushing too hard.
Don’t follow the crowd
Meaning- customize your trip according to what you like. For example, Yes the deluxe resorts can be outstanding (if you have a large budget) but we have witnessed a few friends actually prefer Coronado Springs resort over a deluxe such as Polynesian village.
Bring “emergency warm” clothing
This is a must do when traveling anytime between November- February.
Florida wet/cold hits different than anywhere else so be prepared. There have also been situations where people had a hard time finding warm weather gear in the parks- not to mention if they did the prices are pretty hefty. Same goes towards gear for wet and rainy weather. No one wants to have to buy it while on vacation
Pack a few “props” from home to save money and vacation time..

- Bubble wands
- Disney shirts so you can be in the spirit but not have to dish out money on something you might not wear again ( except for of course, Unlocking The Magic Gear)

Look into Memory Maker and determine if its worth it for you –
A lot of people will ask… is it worth it? But we strongly believe in asking yourself questions prior to making any additional purchases..
For example, is this your first trip or a special occasion? Do you like a lot of photos? Will you wait in line for the professional photographers to take the photos?
Will you be going on the attractions that have photo pass? Will you be going to the parks for at least 3 days?
Misconception people often think- is that memory maker is per person.. But it’s for the length your trip AND if you’re traveling with family and friends you won’t each have to purchase the Memory Maker. As long as you’ve connected through your My Disney Experience as friends and family, you’ll be able to share the expense of the Memory Maker as well as the benefits. All the photos will be available to anyone sharing an account. Which is a great way to save on the cost of the Memory Maker.
Ship items home
We have done this often not only does it save room in your luggage but it also is less of a hassle overall.
If you didn’t get the reservation you were hoping for, keep checking!
You would be surprised by the options that may come available at the eleventh hour.
Also, check “Open table” for restaurants in Disney Springs as they may have openings that do not show up on the regular Disney website.
Make your stroller stand out
In a sea of similar strollers, it can get frustrating when you cannot locate your own quickly. Bring along colorful ribbons or anything else to make yours stand out
Bring phone chargers
Our favorite phone charger: Anker power Bank.

Plan for rest days/ pool days/ resort exploring days
Disney World is highly stimulating so carving out relaxation or down days is super important to recharge the mind and body. When you are relaxed your kids are relaxed – or maybe we just tolerate them a bit more haha!
Check Park times frequently
Disney has been known to switch up opening and closing times so when reserving your park day as well as your trip gets closer is important so you can plan accordingly.
Review menu items before your trip – check out the healthy meal options too!
While we love our Tonga toast and chicken waffles, by the end of the trip we are all craving lighter meal options. It’s always great to get familiar with what is available before your trip.
Bring snacks into the parks
Hear us out… you are going to be hungry allllll the time. The amount of walking that is done burns up so many calories that it is almost impossible to go long without something to eat.
While we love grabbing all kinds of foods in the various areas of the parks, sometimes the hangry’s happen during the most inconvenient times so it’s good to have a little something with you.
Download my disney experience and Locate Disney first aid on the park map before your visit.
There have been many times when we have had a minor issue like a headache or needing a break from the sun. Locating this great
Save money by skipping the regular parks one day and try a water park instead!
We are not normally water park goers but the Disney Water Parks are simply outstanding!
Plan but do not let it consume you.
Be in the moment and enjoy yourself. This will allow for unexpected moments, adventures and often times THE BEST memories!
